a little bit About me…

Hey there! Thanks for visiting my website.

I was born and raised in Taiwan. In 2015, my parents and I moved to California for me to study with Bonnie Hampton. My love for chamber music has since been ignited, leading me to spend many wonderful summers at festivals like Yellow Barn and Kneisel Hall.

I studied for both my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees at Juilliard with Joel Krosnick. During my time there, I discovered my love for contemporary music and working with living composers. The Juilliard String Quartet’s mantra of “playing new music with the reverence one has for established masterpieces, and playing established masterpieces with the uninhibited freshness one has for new music” is one that I always strive to live by, and in my exploration of music of my time, I have gotten to represent Juilliard at the inaugural California Festival: A Celebration of New Music in 2023, perform in a multi-department production of Peter Maxwell Davies’ 8 Songs for a Mad King as part of Carnegie Hall’s “Fall of the Weimar Republic: Dancing on the Precipice” festival in 2024, and have pieces written for me by my dear friends. I believe strongly that music is a language, and languages are meant to be shared, be used to communicate. It is incredibly easy to lose sight of that simple fact as I sit in a practice room by myself trying to polish my craft, but in a world where everyone is increasingly separated and lonely, it is more important than ever to build communities.

I’m currently freelancing in New York City as an educator, performer, and working as a luthier. I work with students both young and old in individual and group cello lessons, and I also mentor youth orchestra. Some of my recent teaching highlights include teaching elementary school students to write their own music as part of my effort to spread my love of working with living composers. My biggest wish is for my students to explore all things in life with a curious and open mind, and develop their own voices as they grow.
